I have always been the kind of person that loves to discover and experience places that I have never been to before, and as this blog is partly about travel, I want to share with you guys places that I have been to and as I go to more adventures, I’ll surely write about them so that you guys would be able to see and experience them with me. Heck, you guys can even go and experience it yourselves! Really, go!
So a few weeks ago, together with my sister and my mom, we went to The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch. This was our second time to visit this place. The last time we went was around late March last year. According to their site, the flowers that they have on the field is called Tecolote Giant Ranunculus. I don’t really know much about flowers but they do look beautiful, especially when they’re in full bloom and planted together on a huge field like this one.
Hey, I got an idea! Since it’s gonna be Mother’s Day in a few weeks, why don’t you guys take her here? If you live close by, that is. Wouldn’t it be nice to give your mom a whole field of flowers than just a rose? That’s a winner.
If you guys are planning to go to the field, here are some of my tips in preparation before going:
Tickets:
Adult admission: $14.00
Senior admission (60+): $13.00
Child (3-10) admission: $7.00
Child (2 and under) admission: free
They also have tours if you guys want to get on that one.
Guided tour: $18.00
Guided tour with wagon ride: $23.00
*these prices are per person.
You can also buy the tickets online by clicking here.
Timing:
The field is open from 9 am to 6 pm. I would suggest to go really early, so that when you take pictures there won’t be too many people in the background and you would get that perfect solo or group shot. Or go around 5 pm to have that sunset effect to your photos. Just be aware that by this time, there would be some to a lot of people since they usually go after work or school–at least that was the case when we went. It wasn’t too crazy though. Also, make sure to go on a weekday so there won’t be too much of a crowd. This place gets pretty packed especially on a Sunday.
I would like to add that the best time of the month to go is mid-April to early May. The flowers are almost, if not all, in bloom at this time.
Please keep in mind that the field is only open during spring season. So if you missed it this year, you can always come and visit next year.
Paraphernalia:
1. Camera. Of course! You can use your point and shoot, phone (phones have amazing camera nowadays), but I would recommend to bring your DSLR so that you guys can take those crispy, vibrant photos. Give those flowers some justice.
2. Money. There is a shop at the entrance of the field that sells lots and lots of gardening items. From flower seeds to clay pots. You can buy your moms a bouquet of freshly picked flowers here too. They also have this ice cream shop where you can buy organic ice cream with honey and rose petals in it. A nice snack to cool down after exploring the field.
3. Water. Since you’re out on the field, you’ll be exposed to the sun most of the time. Make sure to properly hydrate yourself while enjoying the view. The last thing you want is to have a heat stroke. That would be no fun at all.
4. Smile. Don’t look miserable on your photos! Make sure to show off those pearly whites as you pose for your picture. Frowning won’t look good with this gorgeous backdrop.
